This isn't going to be dark fashion, but fashion related nevertheless...
If you could be a style opposite your current, which would it be?
What fashion staple would you likely carry on through to your alter ego?
Brownie points for example photos!
I have this secret fantasy of dressing in more traditional garb; like the late Frida Kahlo, or Lila Downs; both of which are part of my list of icons. My heritage isn't Mexican, but there isn't a huge difference between Salvadoran and Mexican traditional dress-- I just prefer the Mexican one to my own, partly because it's just slightly more elaborate.
Problem is, I'm an example of what a melting pot country will do-- I am not fully able to speak the language of my own mother. I appear and sound as though I'm generations away, culturally, but in reality I'm only one. My parents wanted us to fit in more, so they decided it was best to teach us English before Spanish... except, there was never any sort of emphasis on the Spanish until we decided it was time we needed to learn. So now we're stuck as adults bumbling through our language and heritage lol. When I was a lot younger, I danced in a folk group-- I had the traditional huge dress in green... that's about as close to my roots as I ever got, and that was years and years ago.
The photo I have as an example is HUGE, so I'm just going to link it here
That is Lila Downs.
